Probably the best superhero action game behind the Batman: Arkham Trilogy. Despite repetitive side activities, it has a great story, a lot of charisma, and great combat highlighted by the numerous suits and mods.
A very enjoyable and tough “roguevania”. This game is not as hard as it seems, as basic enemies can be killed quickly. The bosses however, are very challenging and unique. Combat is fast, fluid, satisfying, and rewarding. Permadeath is active, but various factors keep the game feeling fresh upon death. There are a ton of items to unlock with your cells, which helps on further runs. Trying to obtain high-tiered gear creates a risk-reward aspect that is very thrilling and worthwhile. Everything is randomized (weapons, level layouts, bonus weapon modifiers), so no 2 playthroughs are the same. It is extremely satisfying to have all of your weapon's modifiers and main traits align, dealing over 100% bonus damage. Due to the tight combat, near endless amount of items to unlock, and roguelike aspects, this is a must-play game that can be played for a very long time. - 8.5
A very heartwarming, charming, sad, and unique game. Each family member’s story is memorable and leads to a powerful ending.
A very short and adequate puzzle game with a nice message and touching ending.
This is a tough and annoying platformer, that happens to be highly enjoyable. The levels are expertly designed, allowing you to zip through them or sometimes play at a methodical pace. A nice touch is all of the levels can be completed without the aid of another Kong. Donkey Kong’s move set is minimal and the challenge mostly comes from the platforming itself. As tough as the game is, it is fair. The classic vehicle levels adds variety, but the highlights are the “relic” levels. These are unlockable, extended levels with numerous obstacles that will test your skills, patience, and reflexes to the limit. They must be finished in one go or you restart from the beginning, but are immensely satisfying once completed. This game was slightly too long and will often drive you crazy. But, it is rewarding, has a lot of charm, a nice soundtrack, and challenging platforming that shouldn’t be missed.
After the shocking ending of Gears of War 4, I was really excited to play this game and it did not disappoint. As usual, the graphics are a marvel, the new weapons are interesting, and the multiplayer is fully featured. (But, I still miss Beast mode :( from Gears 3) It is not perfect, but The Coalition takes a few risks in the campaign with great results. New to the series is an open world. It is much smaller compared to other games, so it doesn’t feel overdone and fits the game nicely. I found it natural and cool to see landmarks along the way and hear Del or Kait say “let’s check this out,” leading to side quests. Landmarks don’t appear on your map until you pass by them, which rewards exploration. Another improvement to the series is the evolution of Jack. He can now aid in combat (and is playable in co-op) and can be upgraded with components. His abilities are game changing and will have you exploring every nook and cranny for components. An issue I have is the execution of the story feels off. The game basically contains 2 stories in one. The “Gears story” has you trying to get the HoD to function again, while Kait’s story continues from Gears 4. The “Gears story” can be redundant and some moments feel unnecessary, while I wished Kate’s story was slightly longer. Even worse, it fells disjointed as it seems to take turns telling each story. I will admit there are small details I missed, that I have noticed on a second playthrough. But, I feel Kait’s story should’ve been towards the end or the ending itself. This game has me excited to play the next entry in the series, yet again. Between the fun multiplayer, great campaign, and as a technical showcase, this game is a complete package.
This is a solid self-contained expansion. It is near the length of Acts 2 or 3 in Gears 5 and has a surprising amount of backstory and heart. I hope to see this story and these characters have an effect on Gears 6.
A decent and simple puzzle/board game. The puzzles are well thought out, but usually must be played at least twice due to challenge requirements. Sometimes, this felt like padding and I began to dread certain challenges. Thankfully, there is an instant restart button. This is an interesting and surprisingly true to form spin-off of the Hitman franchise.
This is a cute, charming, and very funny game. The writing is full of nonstop wacky humor. I was trying to screenshot every joke and couldn't keep up. Also, your companion Olivia, establishes herself as a memorable character. The battle system is unique compared to other turn based games, as it has puzzle elements. The game is mostly simple and easy, but these puzzle elements are ramped up during boss fights, which I found horrible. During boss fights, you must create pathways to attack. They are usually littered with obstacles, you have limited turns, are on a timer, and often have to pick up items along the way. There is a specific way to beat them and you have to figure it out on the fly. It is needlessly complicated and vague. This game has faults, but they are outweighed by a good soundtrack, a heartfelt ending, and many unforgettable moments and characters this game has to offer.
An endearing Nintendo-esque platformer that shows the DualSense's potential. It has great music, a fair challenge, and a lot of interesting and nostalgic unlockables. Don't be discouraged by it's briefness and label as a "tech demo". This is well worth playing.
The Last of Us' story mode gets all of the recognition, but I'd like to comment on Factions Multiplayer. I've played over 100 days in the deathmatch mode alone. The realistic tone and mechanics carry over really well from the story mode. With over 20 survival skills (perks) and numerous guns, it is always interesting to use different combinations of loadouts. So much so, that I used to often fiddle with the "loadout calculator" at work. Unfortunately, as of 2018, the community can often be toxic, and there are countless "try-hards".
Serious Sam: The First Encounter is the hardest game I can remember playing. I played it on Normal. I honestly have no idea how I beat it, other than sheer will. And, I never got the achievement for doing so *rolls eyes*. Apparently, it has to be done in one sitting. There is a point in the game where the game throws over 100 enemies at you at once. By the way, this game has the funniest commercial ad. Search "Serious Sam HD - Supermercial" in YouTube to see it lol.
My favorite video game!
Gears of War 4 has some very memorable moments. It has a great and interesting start and surprise ending. I would like to commend The Coalition for taking a few risks with the gameplay in a few acts. Unfortunately, it is weighed down by a long, drawn out chapter. But, I am very excited for Gears 5!
Plants vs. Zombies is first game I platinumed and one of my favorite games ever. It just oozes charm. I've played through the 50 levels many times on many platforms. The end song is completely worth it.
I was so blown away by the ending in inFamous, that I immediately started another playthrough.
I was so blown away by the ending in inFamous, that I immediately started another playthrough.3.
Guacamelee is a very charming game with fun combat, a very unique soundtrack, numerous references to other franchises, and much more. I preordered the sequel as soon as I could.
Dragon Age: Origins has a very novel and interesting plot that caught me by surprise.
Rogue Galaxy was a big disappointment for me. I only made it halfway through. After awhile, it became tedious, repetitive, and boring. And, the story seemed to go nowhere for half the game. The soundtrack is amazing though.
Mario + Rabbids became on of my favorite games very quickly. The humor, the versatility of each party member, and just the overall gameplay is excellent. Also, being able to respec each character is a nice bonus. I'm very excited to play Donkey Kong's Adventure. Rabbid Peach for the win!
I personally think the controls for Goldeneye 007 were perfectly mapped. Excellent game!
Since this game has no comments at the moment, I'll just let it be known that this is the most important video game ever made.
Even the infamous load times of this version can not hide how magical Chrono Trigger is. (The load times can be slightly toned down by playing on the PS2 and increasing the disc speed).
I was absolutely blown away by this game. I could not stop playing it. The story, combat, exploration, side missions, etc. were all excellent. Easily one of the best games I have ever played.
