Observation

Observation is a sci-fi thriller uncovering what happened to Dr. Emma Fisher, and the crew of her mission, through the lens of the station’s artificial intelligence S.A.M.

Players assume the role of S.A.M. by operating the station’s control systems, cameras, and tools to assist Emma in discovering what is happening to the station, the vanished crew, and S.A.M. himself.

The game is a bit disappointing. The writing is inconsistent - some parts are very tense, others are terrible: like jokes that just don't work, huge info dumps out of nowhere, ridiculous fiction story bits (parts about molecules) and a terrible axe ending. Characters are mostly bland too and the true ending doesn't really explain all that much. I played the game as part of Zero Escape: The Nonary Games on PC and it was a fun ride with easy yet enjoyable puzzles to rest a bit from all the reading. Navigating through the novel in the remastered version was made to be especially easy and fun, so in order to reach new routes and all endings, you don't need to replay any puzzle or to start the game from the very beginning several times. Voiced lines for the characters also is a fantastic addition. Still as it is not a very consistently interesting game, i hope that sequels can escape from the faults of 999 and give me something truly memorable.
