I don't know what people are smoking to call the writing in this piece of junk even remotely good, it has more plot holes than Swiss cheese. Press X to Jason.
Plays like a mix of Super Mario, Ys and Zelda. The graphics are incredible for a PSP game and the soundtrack is nice, as to be expected for a Falcom game. My only complaint here is that the Prologue is far too long (and boring) and the game is generally much too story-driven and dialogue-heavy for an Action RPG.
Combat becomes chaotic much too quick and you can't really see what's going on. There's also a ton of slowdown while you're going through the same few dungeons again and again. Also, don't expect a compelling story with great characters here. It's okay in small doses I guess, but not a great game by any means, which is a shame since I like the concept of having a 2D Brawler + Action RPG.
The big influence here is obviously Dracula's Curse but there are also many references to other NES classics like Megaman or Ninja Gaiden. I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would, given that Curse of the Moon was "only" one of their kickstarter goals to accompany the main game. it's a great precursor to Ritual of the Night.
It is actually pretty bad :stuck_out_tongue: There's no defending this sorry excuse for a Metroid game. Half of this mess consists of cutscenes with cringeworthy dialogue that throw the whole timeline overboard and present us characters that couldn't be any less credible. And don't even get me started on the actual gameplay... Sakamoto is one complete lunatic.
Implements lots of features from MGS 2, like the first person view when aiming or the lockers, but also has all these ridiculous over-the-top cutscenes that don't really fit in.
The silly meme aside, this game has one of the best soundtracks on the Mega Drive.
Along with Contra and Gradius Rebirth (and many other little games), this is no longer obtainable since stupid Nintendo decided to close Wii Ware.
I recently got back to this because of all the story DLCs~
Slightly better than Curse of Darkness, which doesn't say much since that game is pretty damn awful. Upon revisiting many old Castlevania games, the PS2 era is the one I had the least fun with. That being said, this game doesn't have much in common with the very linear Devil May Cry apart from its gothic look.
I don't care if Iga hates it and made it non-canon (the Castlevania timeline is nonsensical on so many other levels anyway) - this is still a decent game on its own. Also very expensive if you want CIB.
Easily the best of the Gameboy Castlevanias.
Featuring the raving Eurodance Remix of Vampire Killer...
The only decent thing about this game is the soundtrack by Michiru Yamane. Level design is absolutely dreadful – nothing but big, empty arenas connected by long tunnels. Oh and Hector moves super slow, which makes it even worse.
A very stripped down version of Rondo of Blood (Maria isn't a playable character here, no level select, only two alternate levels), containing what is probably the most frustrating Dracula fight in the entire series. The soundtrack is still decent though, making good use of the SNES soundchip.
How many pop-cultural references can you fit into one single game? *sigh*
Nice little cute 'em up :revolving_hearts:
The best thing about this is that it has both Symphony of the Night AND the original Rondo of Blood.
Probably the worst Gears of War clone I've ever seen. This is even worse than Scourge: Outbreak.
