While it is the third game in the main series, it is the first part of a two-chapter interlude between Samurai Shodown and Samurai Shodown II. The third series of Samurai Shodown introduces 2 different techniques for each character. The "Slash" techniques are the original moves of the most of the characters whereas the "Bust" techniques the "darker" version of each character.
