this is the last summer break before I head to college for film production, I may or may not have time to play games so I am spending this summer to play as many games as possible.
My school went on strike during may-june so I was able to start early. I had final fantasy iv for the DS on hold for a year and I really wanted to beat it. 30 game play hours later and just a few days before the strike ceased I was able to beat the final boss and complete what may be my favorite final fantasy game (I have not played ff vi yet)
As the strike ended and the last few weeks of school rolled on by, I began playing Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. I purchased this game for cheap about 3 years ago and put 8 hours into it but got busy with the football season (yeah i'm on the team lol) however now that things in school were settling down and all that was left was to sign year books and hand in final assignments i had some more time to relax; so I restarted Golden Sun Dark Dawn and after 30 hours of game play I beat the final boss ( Which I had a surprisingly tough time with) it was an okay game, not something i would play again but when the sequel comes out ill play that. Since I just played two RPGS in a row i thought it was time to take a break and play a game from a different genre.
as soon as i finished Golden sun dark dawn i felt the need to complete another game that I put on hold, and that game was The Legend Of Zelda: Majoras Mask, I bought the game a couple weeks after it was released, I was in no rush, i'm not a die hard fan but I do enjoy the games link is in. I played the game up till the beginning of the 2nd dungeon and then put it on hold for school work. So I resumed to where I was and with the help of a walkthrough i completed the remaining dungeons, however, no walkthrough could help me with the Twin Molds, I tried 5 times and could not defeat the red twin mold, however after perseverance I was able to defect the twin mold with minutes to spare. After that, all that was left was Majora, This was my first time playing the game so when I saw the kids playing around majora I thought I had to face them, I went through the first 3 but then realized I would not have enough masks to give the 4th child, thats when I found out that the kids were optional only to get the beast deity mask. So with the past 30 minutes wasted I just said ''forget it'' and went on to majora, his first for was easy, so was the 2nd form, but the final form gave me trouble, you see i did not play this game with the completionist mind set, i just did most of the side quests that i found interesting and I did not upgrade my sword, also it did not help that I wasted all my arrows on the first two forms and by the final form I had no more arrows so i had to get up close and personal, and ended up getting wrecked. So I tried again and made sure to preserve my arrows, and now that i knew what to do it all came down to skill. with one heart left and with majora near death i slashed him with my sword and was able to defeat him and save termina!
After beating Majoras mask I moved to the PS1 for my next game, and that game was the legend of dragoon, I started the game 10 days ago from me writing this blog and beaten it the day I wrote this blog. I played the game for a bit a few years ago after buying in used but then dropped it to play final fantasy 8. However I planned to complete it this time. i went through 3/4 discs without any game overs until the last disc where i had two game overs due to some unfair reason. as i pushed the 50 hour mark on my play through I started to feel fatigued from the game, the music was sort of lacking and the encounter rates were almost as bad as final fantasy iv, but with ff4 I was able to do auto battle while in legend of dragoon i had to do timed button presses which had to be precise. I reached the final boss and beat him. he was not hard, just long. The battle was an hour long and for all my hard work I was treated to a black screen,
a black screen.
yeah, the cutscene played out but while the tv showed nothing, the sound continued to play. Apparently its pretty common with this game, I was pretty pissed off. however at least youtube is a thing so that I can watch the ending.
now its time for another game to be played.
It's chrono trigger time.
